Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks got into a pre-fight brawl with Patricio and Patricky Freire on Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2015), as all three fighters congregated inside the promotion's designated hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.
Read our initial report here.
The good news is, both Brooks and Patricio, who are scheduled to compete at Bellator 145 on Friday night (Nov. 6, 2015) inside nearby Scottrade Center (details), will not face any disciplinary action for their unregulated fisticuffs.
Regardless of what happened, there will be no action taken by the Missouri Office of Athletics, the regulatory body for Bellator 145. Chris Cline, the communications director for the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions & Professional Registration, told MMA Fighting that the incident is outside the regulation of the commission.
I guess they do things differently in "Gateway City."
Brooks claims he was sucker punched while yapping on the phone; however, Patricio "Pitbull" insists it was "Ill" Will who threw the first punch. Hopefully the video of said brawl surfaces sooner, rather than later, so we can get a better understanding of what went down.
Stay tuned.
