Heavyweights Igor Subora and Alain Ngalani collide at ONE: ‘Pride of Lions’ on Nov. 13

In a last minute addition to next week’s ONE: "Pride of Lions" event, Igor Subora will be taking on Alain Ngalani. This morning the Ukrainian shared a poster on Facebook for the heavyweight match up, which will be the eighth fight to be added to the card.

On Dec. 11 in Singapore, Chi Lewis Parry and Brandon Vera will fight for ONE Championship’s inaugural heavyweight title. Next Friday night (Nov. 13, 2015) will see two men coming off losses to the top contenders given an opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Subora (5-2) is a former URCC heavyweight champion who signed for ONE Championship on the back of a five fight winning streak, but came up short against UFC veteran Vera in his promotional debut last year.

Ngalani (1-2-0-1) fought four times for Asia’s biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion and is best known for the spinning wheel kick with which he knocked out Mahmoud Hassan in 2013. Since then, he has been stopped by both Paul Cheng and Parry, who he also fought to a "no contest" with.

The Cameroonian is a world class kickboxer and Muay Thai fighter who has won numerous world titles. He also holds black belts in three different types of Karate and does have some experience in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).

Originally from Ukraine, Subora has been based in Philippines for the past seven years and tends to focus on his boxing. He struggles for suitable-sized training partners, but believes working with smaller and faster men gives him an advantage in terms of speed.

Eddie Ng was initially slated to face Kamal Shalorus in a lightweight bout on this Nov. 13 card, but the Iranian pulled out with an injury which might explain why this fight was put together at such late notice.

ONE: "Pride of Lions" is headlined by a welterweight title rematch between Ben Askren and Luis Santos. The card will also see 115-pound champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuarysirichoke make the first defense of his belt against undefeated Brazilian Yago Bryan.
