Some folks get their own day. Holly Holm is getting the entire month.
That's according to a proclamation from the city council of Albuquerque, who recognized "The Preacher's Daughter" for her UFC 193 pay-per-view (PPV) win over Ronda Rousey (watch it), one that captured the women's bantamweight crown and turned the division on its head.
Take that, keyboard warriors.
"What do they say, nice guys never win? Well, last [Saturday] a nice girl won," Mayor Richard Berry told USA TODAY Sports. "The fact that she does it with such grace and humility and she's honorable in her actions in what she does, that just does it to a whole new level."
Holm (10-0), who some are already calling the greatest of all time, is the first athlete to win world titles in both boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA). Her first title defense is expected to be a rematch against Rousey, depending on the ex-champ's timetable for return.
Until then, streamers and confetti for all!
