UFC 193: Joanna Jedrzejczyk rips 'complaining' Claudia Gadelha, wants her to 'get in line'

New, 33 comments

"Joanna Champion" sends a stern message to her former Brazilian foe ahead of her latest title defense against the No. 8-ranked Valerie Letourneau in Melbourne.

When you're a titleholder in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), you can take some vacation time and generally have a say in who you'd like to fight next.

You'd have to include women's strawweight destroyer Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10-0) on that list, who isn't keen on running it back with former foe and rival No. 1-ranked fighter Claudia Gadelha, even though the latter is poised to challenge for the Muay Thai specialist's belt in 2016 following an injury to her finger.

"She should stand in line and wait for her chance. She did just one fight after our fight. She should stop just complaining about it," Jedrzejczyk told Ariel Helwani.

The 28-year-old defeated Gadelha via split decision in a title eliminator tussle back in Dec. 2014, which was not only controversial because of the judges' scorecards by an errant late blow from the Brazilian, who admitted that she had not yet heard the final bell in Phoenix, Arizona.

Both combatants went their separate ways with Jedrzejczyk picking up the title in a one-sided tilt over ex-champion Carla Esparza last March, followed by a subsequent romp over Jessica Penne (highlights) closer to the Polish fighter's home in Berlin, Germany, back in June.

That set up a historic co-main event opposite No. 8-ranked Valerie Letourneau (8-3) at the UFC 193 pay-per-view (PPV) tomorrow night (Sat., Nov. 14, 2015) "Down Under."

Gadelha, meanwhile, outdueled former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) strawweight titleholder Jessica Aguilar in Brazil last August.

With a win over a credible opponent like "JAG," the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is 1-1 in UFC and a viable candidate for No. 1 contendership, but she does have the winner of this intriguing UFC Fight Night 80 headliner breathing down her neck.

Hold your horses "12 Gauge," says Gadelha.

Looks like UFC President Dana White's word could be the deciding factor at the conclusion of UFC 193.
