Victor Cui: Decision on Ben Askren fight on hold after lack of professionalism by Luis Santos

ONE Championship

ONE Championship is currently without its championship headliner, after Luis Santos failed to make weight for his "Pride of Lions" rematch against welterweight kingpin Ben Askren on Friday (Nov. 13) inside Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Safe to say "Funky" wasn't a happy camper.

"So sick of amateur Jabronis that refuse to honor the contract put in front of them," Askren wrote on Twitter. "Santos missed [weight]. My demand is that Santos makes 190 pounds tomorrow or else the fight is off."

When asked for a status on "Askren vs. Santos," ONE Championship CEO Victor Cui told MMAmania.com that the decision to move forward with a catchweight bout is entirely up to Askren, who is expected to make up his mind at some point within the next 12 hours.

"Askren put in the hard work and made weight," Cui said. "It really is unbelievable to see Sapo be so unprofessional and have complete disregard of what it means to be a professional fighter competing at the highest levels of MMA."

Santos was unavailable for comment.
