We're less than two weeks away from an absolutely terrific boxing card. And HBO is doing its part to cultivate hype, releasing the first episode of its customary "24/7" series in preparation for Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
This Middleweight championship showdown represents a rare combination of good matchmaking, massive fanbases and potential for absolute fireworks. Both of these men are ferocious finishers with savage body attacks -- it's incredibly likely that this will be a fight for the ages.
Cotto (40-4, 33 KO) has totally reinvigorated his career under the tutelage of Freddie Roach, knocking out his last three opponents in violent fashion since his disappointing loss to Austin Trout. Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KO). Canelo has likewise been on the warpath after his loss to Floyd Mayweather, most recently annihilating James Kirkland with a savage right hand.
Even with the loss of Andre Ward, however, the main event is far from alone. The undercard will feature a pair of solid title fights, including a clash between Takashi Miura and Francisco Vargas with a real possibility of being something special.
This isn't just salesmanship -- this card is going to be awesome. Hope you join us next weekend, Maniacs.
Remember, MMAmania will deliver LIVE coverage of "Cotto vs. Canelo," starting with the HBO pay-per-view (PPV) broadcast from inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Nov. 21, 2015.
