Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will welcome Michael McDonald back to the bantamweight fold when he battles Masanori Kanehara at the upcoming UFC 195: "Lawler vs. Condit" mixed martial arts (MMA) pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is set to go down inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Jan. 2, 2016.
The promotion announced the pairing on Monday night.
McDonald (16-3) hasn't been seen since getting thrashed by Urijah Faber back in late 2013, thanks to countless injuries (and some lingering contract issues). Kanehara (25-12-5), meanwhile, is coming off a split decision loss to Rani Yahya last July.
UFC 195 will feature a welterweight title bout between reigning champion Robbie Lawler and former interim titleholder Carlos Condit. In the heavyweight co-headliner, Stipe Miocic continues his march toward the 265-pound strap against ex-division kingpin Andrei Arlovski.
