UFC 192 results: 'Cormier vs Gustafsson' full play-by-play recaps for FOX Sports 1 'Prelims'

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rolls into the "Lonestar State" for an epic night of mixed martial arts (MMA) action when the UFC 192 pay-per-view (PPV) hits Toyota Center in Houston, Texas tonight (Oct. 3, 2015).

Capping off a scintillating five-fight main card is a light heavyweight title headliner pitting reigning champion Daniel Cormier against Swedish powerhouse Alexander Gustafsson. Former 205-pound champion Rashad Evans returns to MMA after a near two-year layoff to face surging contender Ryan Bader in the night's co-main event.

Elsewhere on the evening's main card are notable tussles featuring top-15 flyweights Joseph Benavidez vs. Ali Baugautinov, while Jessica Eye defends her status as a contender in the women's bantamweight division when she faces the upstart Julianna Pena.

However, before we get to the main courses, Maniacs everywhere are treated to an exciting set of seven "Prelims" bouts, which begin at 6:30 p.m. ET on Fight Pass, before transferring over to FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET for the last four.

Yair Rodriguez vs. Dan Hooker

The Mexican Taekwondo specialist Rodriguez takes on New Zealand striker Hooker in a matchup of budding featherweight stars.

Both men come out in the southpaw stance. Rodriguez going with varying kicks to the leg of Hooker. Roriguez landed a roundhouse kick and then Hooker went for a takedown, Rodriguez landed a throw into mount. Hooker escapes and back to grappling against the cage. Rodriguez with beautiful knees to the body but Hooker is nonplussed. Hooker holding Rodriguez against the fence and lands knees of his own, using his head to control his opponent not the fence. Wizzer keeps Rodriguez from getting taken down and they separate.

The duo exchange side kicks and Rodriguez tosses Hooker to the ground. He's right back up. The 25-year-old Hooker charges forward and they clinch. "Hangman" has Rodriguez pressed up against the fence. Rodriguez pulls guard with 3:30 left. "El Pantera" sweeps him and he gets back to his feet. Rodriguez throws a cartwheel kick, which catches Hooker. Rodriguez is throwing side kicks to the leg often. The 22-year-old lands a huge body kick. Another takedown for Rodriguez. Hooker is back up. He catches Rodriguez with a nice straight left. Rodriguez answers with an excellent shot and takedown to end round two.

Rodriguez looks to tie up and get the takedown, but good defense by Hooker. A break in the action for an errant low kick by Hooker. A nice body shot for Rodriguez. Hooker is in half guard, with Rodriguez looking for submissions. He's elbowing Hooker's face from the bottom repeatedly. Rodriguez could possibly get a triangle choke cinched up or an armbar. The 25-year-old Hooker is landing some good ground and pound. With 50 seconds left in round 3, the referee looks for the cageside doctor to check on Hooker's cut. They resume and Hooker presses the action, only to have his efforts thwarted by the precise hands of Rodriguez.

The Winner: Rodriguez via unanimous decision

Rodriguez improves his record to 6-1, while Hookers falls to 12-6.

Alan Jouban vs. Albert Tumenov

Two dangerous strikers in the 170-pound division went toe-to-toe when Jouban battled Tumenov.

Jouban charges in and lands a good knee early, which causes a head kick and left hook to come by way of Tumenov. "Einstein" connects with a good straight right and then a solid uppercut. The straight right is there again. Jouban is pawing his right jab and lands a second errant low kick, which the referee warns him about. Tumenov scores with a hard body kick. "Brahma" gets cracked by a head kick and pelted with an uppercut before falling to the ground unconscious.

Your winner: Tumenov via first-round technical knockout

Tumenov improves his record to 16-2, while Jouban falls to 12-4.

Adriano Martins vs. Islam Makhachev

Martins and Makachev go head-to-head in a tilt pitting striker versus grappler.

Both men are southpaws. Huge left body kick early by Makhachev and then a left behind it. The Dagestani is throwing serious power early. Martins charges forward retaliates with a good right hand. Martins then separates Makhachev from his senses, after the latter charged in recklessly, with a counter right hand that prompts the referee to halt the bout early in round one.

The Winner: Martins via first-round knockout

Martins improves his record to 28-7, while Makhachev falls to 12-1.

Rose Namajunas vs. Angela Hill

Women's bantamweight fighters searching for an ever-important victory in the wide-open women's bantamweight division collided when The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 veterans Namajunas and Hill clashed heads.

Namajunas plants a right and left on the fact of Hill. Hill lands a good body kick as the two tangle up. They take turns reversing positions in the clinch. They separate 60 minutes in. A nice jab finds the mark for the Milwaukee-based Namajunas. A hard body kick connects for Hill. A huge overhand right lands for Namajunas and she completes a takedown off of her momentum. The 23-year-old settles into half guard. Namajunas working on advancing to side control. Namajunas takes her back and cinches up the rear-naked choke while Hill attempts to stand up. The latter collapses moments later handing Namajunas the first-round, submission finish.

Your winner: Rose Namajunas via first-round submission

Namajunas improves her record to 3-2, while Hill drops to 2-2.
