UFC Fight Night 76 injuries and medical suspensions: Norman Parke, six others facing six-month sits

Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to the UFC Fight Pass network last Saturday (Oct. 24, 2015) for the UFC Fight Night 76: "Holohan vs. Smolka" mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place inside 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Full results and play-by-play here.

As with most combat sports events, athletes tend to get hurt when they're repeatedly punched in the face. So it should come as no surprise to learn that 12 of the 20 combatants participating overseas were flagged for injuries sustained inside the Octagon.

As for how that affects their timeline for return may depend on the medical community.

Here is the full list of UFC Fight Night 76 injuries, as well as their corresponding medical suspensions from UFC (via The Underground), who acts as its own commission in the absence of a regulatory body.

Norman Parke: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by X-ray (ribs)
Nicolas Dalby: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by X-ray (left foot)
Darren Till: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by MRI (left shoulder)
Jon Delos Reyes: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by X-ray (chest)
Mickael Lebout: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact) for precautionary reasons
Ericka Almeida: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact) for precautionary reasons
Krzysztof Jotko: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by orthopedic doctor (left-hand injury)
Scott Askham: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons
Cathal Pendred: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by ENT specialist (facial injuries)
Darren Elkins: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact) for precautionary reasons
Robert Whiteford: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by orthopedic doctor (left elbow injury)
Bubba Bush: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
