Las Vegas, you have been overthrown.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White has been around the world...maybe even twice.
In his attempts to dominate the mixed martial arts (MMA) business, White and Co. have staged just an event in just about every corner on the planet. So, if you were to ask the head honcho which city is the best fight town around, he won't hesitate to give those honors to Dublin, Ireland.
He relayed that message to UFC rep James Elliot to pass along during the UFC Fight Night 76 post-fight press conference (video replay here):
"When I was talking to Dana just after the fights. he said he wanted me to let everyone to know he's traveled the world to all these shows and Dublin is without a doubt the best fight town on the planet."
With the exception of a few "dummies," of course.
Dublin played host to UFC Fight Night 76 last night (Sat. Oct. 24, 2015), an event that featured a main event bout between Patrick Holohan and Louis Smolka (highlights) after the Fight Pass event suffered one cancelled fight after another due to injury.
Nevertheless, the event was sold out and rabid Irish fans still came out in and packed the 3Arena.
Prior to this event, UFC Fight Night 46 -- which also went down in Dublin -- became the fastest sellout in the history of the promotion thanks in large part to Conor McGregor's involvement in the event.
Indeed, the city has proven to have fighting in its blood, and the hometown fighters -- and fans -- have proven that time and again.
Sorry, "Sin City."
