Both men delivered an unforgettable back-and-forth ground and striking battle in the afternoon's headliner after being entrusted to carry an injury-riddled fight card. Coming into the tussle, each fighter was riding a wave of momentum having already reeled off impressive victories in 2015.

That all came to an end before a raucous Irish crowd as the bout got underway. "The Hooligan" began the first round intent on bringing the fight to the ground.

Smolka proved his worth on the mat, surviving the initial onslaught of pressure from Holohan. The 24-year-old allowed advancement by his Irish counterpart, and was caught in some precarious submission attempts, but "Da Last Samurai" always found a way out, even attacking with an ankle lock.

Smolka ended the first frame connecting on several hard elbows as Holohan pursued a takedown. However, this meant Smolka was likely down on the scorecard 1-0 to Holohan heading into round two.

From there, the Hawaiian seemed to be off to an even worse start after getting taken down quickly by Holohan once again. Smolka gave up his back, where the SBG Ireland representative cinched up the body triangle, leaving the former with nowhere to go.

After about two minutes of an intense stand-off on the ground, which saw Smolka desperately fend off Holohan from getting the second hook in, the former emerged from off his back to lock up a standing guillotine choke that he used to take the fight down to the mat, which ultimately was the beginning of the end for Holohan.

Smolka pummeled the 27-year-old with damaging elbows, until he gave up his back, which lead to the Hawaiian native flattening out him out and securing the rear-naked choke finish.

Smolka sees his record rise to 10-1, while Holohan drops to 12-2-1.
