UFC Fight Night 76 results: Norman Parke defeats Reza Madadi by unanimous decision in Dublin

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

The co-main event at UFC Fight Night 76 between Norman Parke and Reza Madadi didn't quite live up to the explosiveness of their altercation at Friday's weigh ins, but Parke earned himself a unanimous decision victory nonetheless.

Parke threw a purse at Madadi's feet before the two squared off on Friday -- a clear jab at Madadi's felony conviction for burglary which kept him out of the UFC for the last two years -- and inside the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday afternoon (October 24, 2015) he used his striking and takedown defense over the course of three rounds to earn his 21st victory.

All three judges scored it 30-27.

After a bit of a feeling-out process, Madadi moved in on a single leg with about three minutes left in the round, but could not get Parke to the ground. "Mad Dog" was relentless in his efforts, but Parke deftly avoided the threat with excellent takedown defense. Parked landed several left hands on the 37-year-old Swede, who egged him on after each one landed.

The 28-year-old Northern Ireland native began to find his range and rhythm in the second round, but this time he could not avoid the takedown attempt from Madadi like he did in the opening round. Parke made it back to his feet soon after. Parke then put Madadi up against the fence and flirted with a takedown of his own, but abandoned the attempt. The fight returned to the center of the Octagon and Parke landed several straight lefts and a solid kick to the body. Madadi again egged Parke on when he landed his punches.

Madadi came out aggressive in the final round, and went in on a single, but Parke was able to fight it off. "Stormin" began to tire and Madadi was able to find some success at range, where he hadn't early on in the fight. Parke scored a takedown of his own with under two minutes left, but Madadi made it back to his feet. Both fighters looked exhausted during the final minute of the fight and the bout ended with a battle for takedowns along the fence.

With the victory, Parke improves to 21-4-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the UFC. In his return to the UFC after a two-year absence, Madadi falls to 13-4 overall with the loss and is now 2-2 in the UFC.
