Neil Seery jerked the curtain of the UFC Fight Night 76 main card with a submission victory to ignite his hometown crowd.
"2Tap" submitted Jon Delos Reyes by guillotine choke in the second round at UFC Fight Night 76 inside 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday afternoon (October 24, 2015.)
The official stoppage came at 4:12 of round two (watch the video here).
After a brief exchange in the opening round, Delos Reyes clinched up with Seery and put him against the fence. Seery circled out and fired away with some big punches. The Guam native landed a back trip and got Seery to the ground, but the 36-year-old Irishman avoided any trouble and made it back to his feet.
Seery later fought off a single-leg takedown and then threatened with a guillotine, but Delos Reyes escaped the attack. Delos Reyes landed another takedown, but Seery immediately popped back to his feet.
In the second, the two flyweights settled in the pocket and traded with one another for the first minute until the 28-year-old slammed Seery down to the mat with a takedown. From there, the Brazilian jiu jitsu purple belt transitioned to Seery's back and began hunting for a rear-naked choke. Seery escaped and made it back to his feet once again.
Delos Reyes began to find a home for his punches and connected with some knees. It looked like he was taking full command of the fight as he landed another takedown, but on the way to the mat, Seery locked up a guillotine and forced the tap to earn the victory.
With the win, Seery improves to 16-11 overall. "2Tap" is now 3-2 in the UFC. Meanwhile, Delos Reyes falls to 1-3 in the UFC and is now 8-5.
