Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Francisco Trevino...
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight missed weight for his UFC 192 showdown against Sage Northcutt, then suffered a technical knockout loss to "Super" in the very first round (watch it). Shortly thereafter, he came under fire for shoving referee Herb Dean.
Now we can add a failed drug test to that list of accomplishments.
According to documents obtained by MMA Fighting via a public records request to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Trevino failed a drug test for elevated THC-COOH levels at UFC 192 on Oct. 3 in Houston. Trevino had 69 ng/ml of marijuana metabolites in his system and the Texas threshold is 50 ng/ml.
I wouldn't expect any #freefranciscotrevino tweets to pop up.
"Sitkayan" has now dropped two straight under the ZUFFA banner and won't be eligible to compete until his 90-day suspension is served. In addition, Trevino -- who already coughed up 20 percent of his purse for failing to make weight -- is facing a fine of up to $5,000.
Ouch.
