When Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was drug tested by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) back on Dec. 4, 2014, in advance of his UFC 182 pay-per-view (PPV) title fight against Daniel Cormier, the administrators were forced to collect a second sample, because the first one proved to be too "watery" for an accurate reading.
But hey, you get thirsty when training hard and as a result, drink a lot of water!
The results of both tests returned an "adverse analytical finding," as "Bones" was housing traces of Benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite that happens to fall on the out-of-competition list and is being called an "anomaly" that shouldn't have been tested for in the first place.
The results of those tests below:
As you can see from the above photos, Jones passed his tests for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) and was given a clean bill of health for steroids and testosterone. In fact, his testosterone-to-epitestosterone levels were a minuscule .19/1 on his follow up test on Dec. 18, 2014.
Have a look:
To put that into perspective, Alistair Overeem was a whopping 14:1 when he was popped back in early 2012.
Jones won't face any disciplinary action for testing positive for Benzoylecgonine, because it does not fall under the list of prohibited substances. He did, however, check himself into drug rehab and ask for the mixed martial arts (MMA) community to respect his privacy.
