Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will send former middleweight champion Anderson Silva into a 185-pound showdown opposite Nick Diaz in the UFC 183: "Silva vs. Diaz" pay-per-view (PPV) main event, which takes place later tonight (Sat., Jan. 31, 2015) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It doesn't mean a whole lot in the division standings, but at least we get both men off the sidelines.
Silva is returning from a devastating leg injury suffered against Chris Weidman in late 2013, while Diaz was enjoying a self-imposed hiatus. The Stockton bad boy only promised to make his mixed martial arts (MMA) return for a championship bout, or a "big fight."
I'd say this qualifies.
Good stuff.
