UFC Fight Night 60: Stephen Thompson injured, bounced from Feb. 14 main event in Colorado

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is on the hunt for a new welterweight opponent for Brandon Thatch, now that Stephen Thompson has been injured and bounced from the upcoming UFC Fight Night 60 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on FOX Sports 1, scheduled for Feb. 14, 2015 inside the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

Rib injuries are all the rage these days.

Thatch (11-1) hasn't been seen for over a year, taking an extended break to heal up from a litany of injuries. Prior to his hiatus, "Ruckus" compiled an impressive 10-fight winning streak, which includes consecutive finishes over Justin Edwards and Paulo Thiago.

Finding an opponent of that caliber on two weeks notice could be a pretty tall order.

This is an unfortunate setback for Thompson (10-1), who is 5-1 under the UFC banner with three brutal knockouts. "Wonderboy" has been perfect across his last four contests, which includes a unanimous decision win over former title contender Patrick Cote last September.

Hopefully he's not stuck riding the pine for an extended period of time.
