While her manager tries to crunch the numbers with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, former Strikeforce featherweight champion Cristiane Justino will get back to the business of mixed martial arts (MMA) next month in the "City of Angels."
"Cyborg" is set to defend her Invicta 145-pound strap against top contender Charmaine Tweet at the Invicta FC 11 event on Feb. 27, 2015 inside the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Calif., according to ESPN, not far from where bitter rival Ronda Rousey competes the following night.
Justino (12-1, 1 NC) hasn't seen the inside of a cage in well over a year. She was expected to make her return -- and 135-pound debut -- at Invicta 10 last month on UFC Fight Pass; however, an ankle injury torpedoed her headlining act and sent her back to the sidelines.
She's still regarded as one of the most dangerous strikers in all of women's MMA.
Tweet (6-4) had an electric 2014 fight campaign, pounding out Veronica Rothenhausler at Invicta FC 8 just a few months after choking out Anna Barone for MMA Fight Night in Canada. In six wins, "Not So Sweet" has yet to go to a judges' decision.
No other bouts have been announced for Invicta FC 11, which is expected to air on UFC Fight Pass, but you can expect those to start trickling in over the next few days.
Stay tuned.
