Loudmouthed contender making fun of a Brazilian champion every chance he gets?
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight phenom Conor McGregor, who is expected to fight Jose Aldo for the 145-pound strap at UFC 187 in May, has drawn comparisons to Chael Sonnen, primarily for his constant heckling of "Junior" (sample).
"Jose Aldo said what we needed to hear. We have the king, the prince and joker. That's that! I think he (McGregor) is a nice guy, but Joe's Aldo much nicer. I am Aldo's brother, I am with him to the death! Hit him, Aldo! Please, spank him. Whack him! I don't see any comparison (with Sonnen). He doesn't have the conditioning to face the Aldo. How? Have you seen the last fight of Aldo? Do you think this kid can go through what [Mendes] went through? If I was in [Aldo's] weight class, I would have retired, I'm not crazy man."
As we saw in this video, Aldo can also play the role of joker.
Sonnen came up short in a pair of title fights against "The Spider," but aside from those two losses, was still 5-1 as a middleweight during his second stint under the ZUFFA banner. McGregor has yet to be defeated inside the Octagon and appears to get more dangerous with each fight.
Though the best way to end any and all comparisons to Chael is to win the featherweight title.
