Lorenzo Fertitta resuscitates stalled 'Cyborg' negotiations, open to future Ronda Rousey UFC fight

Prelude to a homicide.

USA TODAY Sports

If you happen to be an active mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter (or manager) who doesn't like Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, you have two choices.

1. Go away.
2. Go over his head.

Sounds like former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion Cristiane Justino did both, returning to the negotiating table she abandoned earlier this year after talks with White and Co. withered and died. So too, did the Brazilian's attempt to drop down to the bantamweight division, the planned result being a Ronda Rousey "super fight."

Lorenzo Fertitta to the rescue!

"We certainly have an interest in Cyborg fighting for us," Fertitta told ESPN.com. "We feel that down the road there is a possibility of a big fight between her and Ronda, but there are still a lot of things that need to happen. She needs to prove she can get down to 135 pounds before we would take the risk of making that fight happen. Obviously, if she came over and didn't make the weight, it would be a disaster."

Justino's manager confirmed they are currently in negotiations with ZUFFA (despite this).

The Brazilian hasn't seen the inside of a cage in well over a year. She was expected to make her return -- and 135-pound debut -- at Invicta 10 last month on UFC Fight Pass; however, an ankle injury torpedoed her headlining act and sent her back to the sidelines.

How long she stays there based on this new information, remains to be seen.
