Joe Silva's job gets easier by the day.
Fresh off his unanimous decision victory over Ben Henderson last Sunday (Jan. 18, 2015) at UFC Fight Night 59 (watch video highlights here), Donald Cerrone may already have his next opponent lined up, as Khabib Nurmagomedov has throw his name in "Cowboy's" hat.
"The Eagle" sent out the challenge via his official Twitter account, to which Cerrone answered with a thumbs up.
"@TeamKhabib: Hey man Cowboy,I heard you want time to rest,what about UFC 187,May23,Vegas.lets do it @ufc @danawhite @lorenzofertitta "
— Cowboy Cerrone (@Cowboycerrone) January 20, 2015
The two talented lightweights were set to toe-to-toe at UFC 178 in Sept. 2014, but a knee injury forced Nurmagomedov out of the fight 20 minutes after accepting it.
After undergoing successful surgery, Nurmagomedov is itching to get back into the swing of things on his road to a much-desired title shot against division champion, Anthony Pettis. First, he must win at least one more bout to prove his worth, and there is no better option than Cerrone -- another streaking lightweight -- to try and do it against.
