Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White has never been one to mince words, but predicting pay-per-view (PPV) buys is not something he does with any regularity.

Apparently, UFC 182 (full fight card here) is the exception to the rule, as White predicted 750,000 paying customers for the mammoth Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier light heavyweight title fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

White elaborates (via MMA Fighting):

"I think this fight will do 750, that's where I place the line. Everyone thinks the pay-per-view thing is dead. Pay-per-view isn't dead. We just had a bad year."

You can say that again.

Considering UFC 182 tickets are still available and this Saturday night's (Jan. 3, 2015) event is far from sold out, is White simply playing the role of promoter?

On Ticketmaster there are hundreds of seats up for grabs for arguably the biggest event in the last few years. Is this simply a matter of tickets being too pricey following the holidays, or the sport losing a large portion of its fan base after a rough 2014 campaign?
