Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight and welterweight champion, BJ Penn, was arrested for an altercation at the Four Seasons Hotel in Maui, Hawaii, after a dust-up with his friend last Saturday night (Jan. 17, 2015), according to MauiWatch.com.
First responders found Penn "inebriated."
Penn (16-10-2) hasn't been seen since getting thrashed by Frankie Edgar at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 19 Finale last July. It was his first fight back after nearly two years on the bench and forced "The Prodigy" into retirement (but he didn't go quietly). The Hawaiian was a dreadful 1-5-1 dating back to late 2009.
Doesn't sound like his retirement is off to a good start, or perhaps, it has been a little too good.
No other details surrounding his arrest -- later confirmed by Kihei Police Department (via Bloody Elbow) -- are available at this time; however, you can expect those to start trickling in over the next few days.
Stay tuned.
