The six-million viewer man is back on Spike TV.
And it was probably an easy sell, considering Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson was responsible for these "staggering" ratings on the cable television network back in 2009. And though a lot has changed in mixed martial arts (MMA) over the last five years, there probably isn't a combat sports fan who doesn't recognize the man behind the beard.
Heck, even pulling in a third of those ratings would be a huge score for the boys at Viacom.
With that in mind, Ferguson, 40, is expected to make his Bellator MMA debut later this year, according to Combat Press, against an opponent to be named. We haven't seen the former EliteXC attraction in over four years, thanks to a technical knockout loss to fellew Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 contestant Matt Mitrione.
During that span, Ferguson (4-2) has been keeping busy by beating up club fighters on the local boxing circuit.
Slice rose to fame on YouTube via punches with lunches. Guys would get together for a BBQ and beat the shit out of each other while someone else filmed, then uploaded it. Opportunistic promoters were able to capitalize on his look and make a mint, but the gentle giant was eventually exposed by Seth Petruzelli.
But at least he has something some of those other high-profile signings don't: A win in UFC.
