Jacare Souza catches pneumonia, Yoel Romero fight planned for UFC 184 postponed

Here we go again ...

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

There was a sweet Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight clash between Ronaldo Souza and Yoel Romero teed up to, possibly, determine the next 185-pound title challenger ... especially if the former defeated the latter.

That's now going to have to wait because Souza came down with a case of pneumonia, forcing him out of a pivotal divisional clash planned for UFC 184, which takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Feb. 28, 2015.

The good news? The match up will remain intact, according to UFC.com, but will be rescheduled at a later date.

Nonetheless, it's a huge setback for Souza, who was eager to punch his ticket to a title shot, especially considering placement on the pay-per-view (PPV) main card that is headlined with a main event between division champion, Chris Weidman, taking on Vitor Belfort.

He'll now have to rest, recover and wait as former champion Anderson Silva returns to action against Nick Diaz at UFC 183, who might be able to score a front ditch and earn the next crack with an impressive performance.

Despite Souza's best efforts to convince UFC brass otherwise.

UFC 184 features a championship doubleheader in the main- and co-main events, with middleweight kingpin Chris Weidman leading the charge against top-ranked 185-pound contender, Vitor Belfort. Not to be outdone, Ronda Rousey will defend her 135-pound tiara against Cat Zingano in the supporting act.
