We're not even 12 hours into the new year and the injury bug has already struck down a scheduled Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) main event.
Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine has reportedly suffered a groin injury, and has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled main event against Matt Brown at UFC Fight Night 60.
MMAjunkie first reported the injury earlier today and UFC officials are actively seeking a new opponent for the February 14, 2015 fight card inside the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
Saffiedine's injury woes continue to plague his UFC career. Since defeating Nate Marquardt in the final Strikeforce event to become the welterweight champion in January 2013, the Belgian national has fought only twice inside the Octagon.
With Carlos Condit ready to return to the Octagon in 2015, could we potentially see UFC match up "The Natural Born Killer" with "The Immortal"?
Time will tell.
