Demetrious Johnson was favored up to -1500 at some sports books for his title defense against Chris Cariaso in the main event of last night's (Sat., Sept. 27, 2014) UFC 178: "Johnson vs. Cariaso" pay-per-view (PPV) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. So, then, it wasn't a surprise at all to see him absolutely dominate the entirety of the bout en route to a second round submission win. In short, he was better everywhere and Cariaso, who had tears in his eyes as the decision was being read, simply had nothing to offer the champion. It's to the point that Johnson, who has seven wins in a row and was already in the pound-for-pound discussion, may need to start looking outside his 125-pound weight class for interesting and/or truly challenging competition. Otherwise it's back to cleaning out his division, something he showed us here he's more than up to doing.
