The headlining attraction of tonight's (Sat., Sept. 27, 2014) UFC 178: "Johnson vs. Cariaso" pay-per-view (PPV) event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson putting his title on the line against the latest "toughest challenger to date", Chris Cariaso.
Considering how heavily the champion was favored, there was little interest for this one.
As expected, Cariaso, who uses the unfortunate moniker "Kamikaze", was hopelessly outmatched en route to a second round loss by way of submission. It was a dominant performance from a dominant champion who, as of this moment, has no equal at 125-pounds.
He has won seven consecutive fights and done so in surprisingly effective fashion. It's not just that he wins, it's that he demoralizes his opponents by completely neutralizing their offense while seamlessly working his own.
It may be time to start talking about a "superfight" against a champion at a higher weight class.
Right?
