Although it wasn't the main event of tonight's (Sat., Sept. 27, 2014) UFC 178: "Johnson vs. Cariaso" pay-per-view (PPV) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, it certainly felt like Conor McGregor's meeting with Dustin Poirier in the cage was the marquee attraction.
That likely has something to do with the fact that these two did more to sell their fight than any other combatant on the card.
And then they went out and delivered, or at least McGregor did. He was light on his feet, avoiding all of Poirier's punches while connecting clean on his own. The big blow, the one that put "The Diamond" down for the count, hit just behind the ear as Dustin was ducking down.
Follow up punches were academic.
To put a cap on it all, McGregor called out Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo, and he said he was willing to do it in a soccer stadium in Brazil.
