"You know how much money Wanderlei Silva has made since he’s been with the UFC? $9.7 million.... So Silva says everybody’s getting rich except the fighters. What does Wanderlei considers rich? $9.7 million isn’t rich? A lot of people would consider that rich. Let me tell you what: Wanderlei Silva has fought six times in the last five years. He’s fought six times in five years. If being overworked is fighting one time a year, I don’t know what to tell you..... When we offered him the fight, he said he was hurt. We sent him to a doctor two different times, and the doctor said 'this man is not hurt. There’s nothing wrong with him.'"
-- Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White hit up the company accountant once again in the wake of Wanderlei Silva's recent "pennies" rant. "Axe Murderer" -- who was "Pete Rose'd" shortly after releasing a fiery mixed martial arts (MMA) retirement video (watch it here) -- appeared to make quite a comfortable living throughout his UFC tenure. Not as much as Rampage Jackson's $15.2 million in UFC career earnings, but as White mentioned, Silva fought sparingly in recent years. What's alarming, however, is that White claims Silva dragged his feet on the Chael Sonnen grudge match, an anticipated bout that was detonated forever once both men were hung out to dry by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) earlier this year (get the full scoop here). In other words, Silva -- at least by White's recent assessment (via MMAFighting.com) -- is a millionaire nine times over who incredulous cries poor ... and fakes injuries to avoid competition. Ouch.
