Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier summoned to NSAC disciplinary hearing on Sept. 23 to answer for UFC 178 media brawl

Most mixed martial arts (MMA) fans got a kick out of the UFC 178 media day brawl between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and division No. 1 contender Daniel Cormier, who turned a routine appearance at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas into a violent free-for-all (watch it).

Dave Sholler Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) was not amused.

Now that members of the commission have reviewed the tape, it's time to dole out a pair of punishments. That means Jones and Cormier will have to make the trek to "Sin City" to answer for their bad behavior, and could face monetary penalties for getting physical outside the cage.

ESPN first reported the pending hearing on Wednesday.

As luck would have it, Jones was injured in training camp (thanks to this guy) and was forced to pull out of their fight. Cormier agreed to sit out until "Bones" was better (much to the chagrin of Sweden) and their 205-pound grudge match will now take place at UFC 182 in January.

Hopefully they can keep their hands (and mics) off one another until then.
