Sounds like Miesha Tate is still "pissed" about losing to Cat Zingano.
The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 135-pound No. 1 contender was popped and dropped by "Alpha" at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale back in April 2013. While referee Kim Winslow makes no apologies for the stoppage, "Cupcake" told MMA Junkie Radio she wants to set things right.
Assuming she doesn't get another title shot in the interim.
"Beating (Rin Nakai) is definitely a step in the right direction for me. But I don't know exactly where that puts me. I hope it means I'm getting closer to a title shot one more time, and if that's good enough, I'll take the title shot. If not, I'd like to face Cat Zingano again."
Let's not put the cart before the horse.
Before Tate can get one back -- or try to -- she must first dispose of undefeated bantamweight sensation Rin Nakai, who welcomes "Cupcake" to the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, at UFC Fight Night 52 this Sat. (Sept. 20, 2014) on Fight Pass.
And then?
And then Zingano has to lose to Amanda Nunes later this month at UFC 178, because a win would undoubtedly earn "Alpha" a title fight against division queenpin Ronda Rousey, a spot she already had prior to injuring her knee last year in training camp.
Lots of moving pieces to this puzzle fight fans ... but how does 'Zingano vs. Tate 2' sound?
