The headlining attraction at tonight's (Sat., Sept. 13, 2014) UFC Fight Night 51: "Bigfoot vs. Arlovski 2" event at Ginásio Nilson Nelson in Brasília, Brazil, featured Andrei Arlovski getting his chance to avenge a 2010 decision defeat at the hands of Bigfoot Silva. That was Strikeforce, at a time when the two were on drastically different career paths. Here, "Pit Bull" entered on a three fight win streak while the Brazilian was tasked with knocking the rust off after a nine-month suspension for a positive drug test (elevated levels of testosterone).
Make that a four-fight win streak.
And that rust was knocked off, all right ... by a really heavy right hand. The next three hammer fists shut the lights out and Arlovski did exactly what he said he would do coming into this evening's showcase: Get his revenge by way of knockout.
Bigfoot was flat-footed from the start, standing right there in the pocket while Arlovski found his range. The power was always going to be there, he just needed to land clean.
When he did, that was that.
Good night!
