Knockout! Watch TJ Dillashaw vs Joe Soto full fight video highlights from UFC 177

Joe Soto ... color us impressed.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Joe Soto had NO BUSINESS being in an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) five-round pay-per-view (PPV) main event showdown against Bantamweight kingpin T.J. Dillashaw last night (Sat., Aug. 30, 2014) at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.

Just ask Eddie Wineland.

But, the man he replaced, former 135-pound champion Renan Barao, got loopy -- and mad as hell -- and was forced out of a rematch against "The Viper" literally hours before it came time to weigh in.

So the former Bellator (BURN!) and Tachi Palace Fights (TPF) champion took the bull by the horns, accepting an "opportunity of a lifetime" to compete for a world title in the most popular league of mixed martial arts (MMA). And for four rounds, he did a serviceable job, hanging tough with Dillashaw even though he was clearly outclassed and, clearly not his fault, unprepared for a 25-minute match.

It just wasn't meant to be.

Indeed, Soto put up a valiant fight, but Dillashaw was simply a class above, outworking and outclassing his opponent en route to a knockout finish in the fifth round. That head kick, though ... and the ability to not go to sleep for minutes?
