Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight and Lightweight champion, B.J. Penn, today made what is likely his final mixed martial arts (MMA) transformation.
Penn hit the 145-pound mark on the button, the lightest he has ever been throughout his extensive 13-year professional career, making his trilogy match against Frankie Edgar at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 19 Finale tomorrow (Sun., July 6, 2014) official.
It is Edgar who ultimately forced Penn to reconsider competing in a different division after defeating "The Prodigy" twice in the span of four months back in 2010. Penn, however, went up instead down, and was thrashed by the likes of Welterweight standouts such as Jon Fitch, Nick Diaz and Rory MacDonald.

Earlier this week, Penn hinted that he thinks he found a "home" at Featherweight, but in the same conversation, didn't rule out the possibility of retirement win, lose or draw.
Regardless of his next career move, Penn certainly looks the Featherweight part. It will be interesting to see if the change of scenery can me a difference, especially against an opponent who seemingly has his number.
