World Series of Fighting (WSOF) makes its NBC Network debut with a few afternoon beatdowns, including a lightweight title fight at WSOF 11: "Gaethje vs. Newell," which goes down TODAY (Sat., July 5, 2014) live from inside Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. World Series of Fighting (WSOF) returns with its most important show yet, including the promotion's biggest title fight to date at WSOF 11: "Gaethje vs. Newell," which takes place at Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of the WSOF 11 main card fights TODAY (Sat., July 5, 2014), beginning with the NBC telecast at 4 p.m. ET. In addition, we'll deliver up-to-the-minute quick results of all the preliminary under card action much earlier in the daytime (beginning at 2 p.m. ET).

Justin Gaethje will defend his lightweight championship against Nick Newell in the main event, as both fighters enter their bout with undefeated records (11-0, respectively).

In the co-main event, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) combatants will square off, as Jon Fitch battles Dennis Hallman in a welterweight showdown.

Also on the card, Melvin Guillard will make his promotional debut against Gesias Cavalcante, and kicking things off on the main card will be Pablo Alfonso taking on UFC's The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 contestant Cody Bollinger.

The afternoon action kicks off TODAY (July 5, 2014) at 2 p.m. ET with the "Prelims" bouts, and once those fights conclude, switch your televisions over to NBC at 4 p.m. ET for the televised main card and follow along in this post for a great day of discussion in the comments section below.

155 lbs.: Justin Gaethje vs. Nick Newell

Round 1: They touch gloves. Leg kick from Gaethje. Newell misses a wild right hook. Newell staying active with counters. Flying knee connect from Newell. Left hand lands for Newell, and Gaethje trips him. Newell catches him with a left, but can't get the takedown. Gaethje keeps throwing kicks. Combo lands from Newell. Newell eats a shot to the body. Newell tries for the takedown, and Gaethje is on one leg, and now up against the fence. Gaethje clocks Newell with a knee, and lands a knee to a grounded Newell -- but the referee doesn't intervene. Newell is back up, and eats a right hand. Newell shoots again, and Gaethje lands a kick, followed by a knee to the body. Newell's forehead is busted up. Elbow from Gaethje, and Newell shoots low again. Gaethje lets Newell up after he stays on the ground. Newell misses a flying kick, and Gaethje is now on top, landing knees to the body. Newell catches his foot, and goes for a leg lock. Gaethje is out, and they're on their feet. Gaethje staggers Newell with a left hand before the bell.

Round 2: Newell has a big cut over his left eye. Gaethje lands a left hand, followed by a solid right and a big body shot. Newell tries to recover by shooting in, but Gaethje lets him back up. Newell goes to the body again, and Newell shoots low, but Gaethje isn't having any of it. Newell is backing up, and hits the champ with a right hand. Kick to the body by Gaethje, followed by an uppercut from Gaethje. Newell looks exhausted. Gaethje keeps connecting, and misses an uppercut. Gaethje has Newell circulating near the cage. Newell shoots in, and Gaethje joins him. Referee wants to see the cut, and there's a pool of blood on the mat. Newell's face is a mess. Doctors come in, and they let him continue. The crowd cheers, and Gaethje claps. Gaethje comes in forward again, and drills Gaethje with a big right hand. It drops Newell, and the referee comes in immediately. Newell isn't out, but he's completely dazed, despite his protests.

Final result: Justin Gaethje def. Nick Newell via TKO (strikes) at 3:09 of R2


170 lbs.: Jon Fitch vs. Dennis Hallman

Round 1: They touch gloves. Hallman misses a punch, and goes low with a kick. They exchange leg kicks, and Fitch clinches him up against the cage. Hallman pushes forward, and they go back to the middle. Fitch trips Hallman with a kick, and he's now in his opponent's guard. He stays active with strikes to the body, while Hallman is trying to get his legs wrapped around Fitch's shoulders. Fitch has Hallman smothered against the cage, to the surprise of nobody. Hallman wraps his arms around Fitch's head for a guillotine, but it doesn't work. Fitch is working the body, and Hallman almost escapes by turning over and catching Fitch in an armbar. Fitch stays heavy on top, and Hallman is doing his best to stay active from the bottom. Hallman almost catches Fitch in a kneebar as the latter tries to improve positioning, but Fitch escapes and lays on Hallman some more.

Round 2: Crisp jab by Fitch, and he shoots for a takedown. Big slam from Fitch. Fitch doing what he does best, and the ground strikes are 40-to-1 so far. Fitch postures up and starts laying down some elbows. Fitch is grinding his forearms all over Hallman's dome, and the latter is clearly frustrated. They're close to the fence, and Fitch is controlling Hallman's head nicely with his arms. Short elbows all day from Fitch. More punches from Fitch, and he stands up to lay down some more strikes. Hallman catches his leg, and Fitch is trapped. Hallman goes for a toehold, but Fitch simply turns and ends up in side control. Fitch flirting with a crucifix, but he's more content with controlling Hallman. Elbows from Fitch have cut Hallman over his right eye. Hallman just can't get off his back.

Round 3: Hallman misses a right hand, and Fitch is staying on his feet and working jabs. Fitch clocks Hallman with a right hand, and gets the takedown. A little more aggressiveness from Fitch, who starts to lay down some hammer fists. Fitch throwing more punches, going to the body often. Hallman takes a few shots to the face, and he looks pretty exhausted. Fitch is in half guard, and moves into guard while punching Hallman's head. Every one of these rounds look identical, seeing how Fitch is performing. At least Fitch isn't stopping when it comes to punches, and he's moving to find better positions. Ultimately, he's destroying Hallman on the mat. Fitch postures up one more time, and lays down some more punches until the final bell.

Final result: Jon Fitch def. Dennis Hallman via unanimous decision (30-27x3)


135 lbs.: Pablo Alfonso vs. Cody Bollinger

Round 1: Bollinger goes low early. Alfonso snaps Bollinger's head with a kick to the head. Bollinger moves forward and lands a left. They start trading, and Bollinger takes Alfonso down with a slam. Alfonso looking to get creative on his back. Alfonso goes for the triangle, and Cody picks him up and slams him down. Bollinger almost gets caught in a guillotine choke, and as he is preventing Alfonso from getting him, he catches the Brazilian in a guillotine of his own. Bollinger lets go, and Alfonso tries to squirm out of Cody's lock. Bollinger takes Alfonso's back, and after a few seconds, he locks in a rear naked choke. Alfonso taps.

Final result: Cody Bollinger def. Pablo Alfonso via submission (rear naked choke) at 2:37 of R1


155 lbs.: Melvin Guillard vs. Gesias Cavalcante

Round 1: They touch gloves. Cavalcante throws a kick and he slips. Guillard tries to follow up with some big strikes, but the Brazilian is back up. Jab from Guillard, but he eats a head kick. Nice punch by Melvin. Cavalcante goes in, but eats a left hook. Nice punch by Gesias, but Guillard nails him with an uppercut. Leg kick by Cavalcante. Straight right misses for Guillard. Jab by Cavalcante. Right hand connects by Guillard, and Cavalcante kicks him in the groin. They resume after a short break. Melvin misses an uppercut as his foe comes in. Cavalcante looks a bit slow. Kick to the body from Guillard. Guillard rushes forward, gets his foe in the clinch and lands some nice knees. Takedown attempt by JZ, but Guillard defends well. Back in the center, JZ is much tighter, and Guillard is going low with kicks. Left hand by Guillard, while JZ goes low with a leg kick. Nice left hook by JZ. Guillard misses with straight lefts and rights. Nice right hand by Guillard, and he misses a flying knee. They close out with a flurry, with Guillard actively throwing more.

Round 2: Flurry misses for JZ. Head kick grazes Guillard, and Cavalcante lands a takedown. Guillard's back is against the cage. Guillard is back up, and JZ is trying to stick to him like glue. They're clinched up against the fence, with JZ relentlessly trying to get his opponent back on the mat. Guillard is able to separate. Back in the center, both are a little more hesitant to throw now. Right hand staggers JZ, and Melvin smells blood. He decks JZ with a left, and throws a head kick that misses. Guillard has him against the fence, and starts to nail him with strikes. JZ looks to be in trouble. The ref steps in, and JZ immediately protests. May be a premature stoppage for some.

Final result: Melvin Guillard def. Gesias Cavalcante by TKO (strikes) at 2:36 of R2
