What does the future hold for the winner of Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida?
Probably a middleweight title defense against Vitor Belfort, following the UFC 175: "Weidman vs. Machida" pay-per-view (PPV) headliner, which takes place tomorrow night (Sat., July 6, 2014) inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada (results here).
But Weidman doesn't want to put the cart before the horse ... literally!
"You know, it's hard for me to even think about Vitor at this point, but if I'm fighting Vitor, he's gonna be tested. He's been caught twice now. I looked, last time I seen him I saw on his back, right by his shorts, there was like a little tail hanging down. He's becoming like a horse, he's got so much testosterone ... (no reaction from reporters) ... I guess that wasn't funny. I think he needs to be tested as much as possible if he's been known to fail tests."
Belfort failed a pre-fight drug test earlier this year, one that not only knocked him out of the UFC 173 headliner -- against Weidman -- but prompted Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to outright ban testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
And the domino effect has been staggering, to say the least.
Naturally, none of this matters if Weidman is unable to tame "The Dragon" this weekend in "Sin City," but if he does, it's onto yet another Brazilian ex-champion. As for Belfort, all he can do is bide his time and keep passing those self-administered drug tests.
