Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight warrior Matt Brown saw his seven-fight winning streak come to an end last Saturday night (July 26, 2014) in the main event of UFC on FOX 12, which took place inside SAP Center in San Jose, California.
He was good, but opponent Robbie Lawler was better (watch the replay here).
Midway through the third round, Lawler uncorked a kick to the body that doubled-over Brown. "Immortal" immediately grabbed his groin and referee John McCarthy separated the fighters. Instant replay appeared to exonerate Lawler of any wrongdoing, and some mixed martial arts (MMA) fans took Brown to task for faking a nut shot.
Brown responded on Sunday (July 27) via Facebook:
First off thanks to #theimmortalarmy for your constant support. Second off I've read some things saying that said I faked the nut shot. I would never do that in my fucking life. That's bullshit. Period. End of story.
From the referee's perspective:
For information, the kick thrown by Robbie was legal, his shin moved Matt Browns cup, you could hear it, that's why Matt was given a moment

There you have it.
With the victory, Lawler moves on to rematch Johny Hendricks for the 170-pound title later this year, just as soon as "Bigg Rigg" gets cleared to return to the Octagon following bicep surgery. Brown, meanwhile, probably won't lose much stock at 170 pounds, considering his gritty performance in San Jose.
