Undefeated women's bantamweight Holly Holm signs with UFC

New, comments

Finally, some good news in the world of MMA.

Dana White was interested after all.

Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) company president just announced the latest addition to the women's bantamweight roster via Twitter, revealing that former professional boxing champion, Holly Holm, has finally inked a deal with the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion

Check it out:

After an initial meeting with Team Holm back in March, White revealed that things didn't go so smooth, leading most to believe that the former boxer-turned MMA fighter would never step inside the Octagon.

Four months later, and the two sides have struck a deal that will see the undefeated (7-0, 0-0 UFC) fighter compete in the grandest stage of them all. The questions is, did UFC actually outbid World Series of Fighting (WSOF) this time around?

The news will be music to Ronda Rousey's ears, as the current 135-pound champion expressed her interest in mixing it up with the stand up specialist.

"Rowdy" is fresh of a 16-second destruction of Alexis Davis at UFC 175 (video), her fifth consecutive title defense.

Seemingly running out of fresh contender's to face, the addition of the Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA- trained fighter will definitely provide a new challenge for the 135-pound queen of MMA. Holm -- once considered the best pound-for-pound female boxer in the world, amassing a 33-2-3 record before moving to MMA in 2011 -- will also test Rousey's much-improved striking game.

No word yet on on when or where "The Preacher's Daughter's" debut will take place.
