If Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight Bryan Caraway was hoping to endear himself to mixed martial arts (MMA) fans with a slick submission win on FOX Sports 1, he's likely to be disappointed.
That's because the fight community is crying foul -- literally -- after reports surfaced that "Kid Lightning" used an illegal fish hook to control Erik Perez at the UFC Fight Night 42 event last Saturday night (June 7, 2014) in Albuquerque, New Mexico (results).
Now we have the video.
There is no way to prove malicious intent, but the video certainly does not weigh in his favor.
At the "Henderson vs. Khabilov" post-fight press conference (video), Caraway had no recollection of the foul and insisted it was not intentional. Coach Greg Jackson, who cornered "Goyito," was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt (see those comments here).
Though he may have a change of heart after watching this footage.
