Tonight's (Sat., June 7, 2014) UFC Fight Night 42: "Henderson vs. Khabilov" event at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Fox Sports 1 featured John Dodson hoping to earn another crack at the flyweight title by defeating former top contender John Moraga.
After all, UFC President Dana White did promise as much.
Well, say hello to your next 125-pound title challenger.
Dodson was busy early, scoring with punches and generally avoiding any meaningful offense from Moraga. He also fended off a takedown attempt before closing the round with a few hard lefts and a big knee.
The action was so slow in the second fans booed, an unexpected turn considering the participants. That changed in a big way in the final minute when "The Magician" landed a big knee that apparently broke Moraga's nose, busting him open in a big, big way.
Dodson couldn't get the finish right then and there but after the doctor examined him in between rounds, the bout was called.
The replay showed how brutal the final knee was.
Vicious.
