UFC Fight Night 42 results: Piotr Hallman chokes out Yves Edwards

The old man didn't have enough breath to hang with the young gun.

Yves Edwards has been around forever, having competed in over 60 professional bouts during his mixed martial arts career. He was back for one more at tonight's (Sat., June 7, 2014) UFC Fight Night 42: "Henderson vs. Khabilov" event at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Fox Sports 1, a lightweight lowdown opposite Polish young gun Piotr Hallman.

An early eye poke had the action slow and uninteresting early on, but Edwards opened up after recovering from the old heel thumb spot. He got a little too excited and ended up slipping and losing position halfway through the round, but Hallman failed to capitalize after coming down on top.

Shortly into the second round, Hallman poked Edwards in the eye once again and referee Mario Yamasaki issued a warning.

Keep those fingers in.

Not long after they restarted, Edwards got revenge with a pinky to the eye after a hard body kick. The action continued after just a short interruption but there was zero rhythm to be had here.

After the reset, Hallman started pressuring Edwards and wouldn't let up. It was a sound strategy, as Yves appeared to wear down and looked visibly fatigued as the horn sounded to go the third and final frame.

Once there, Hallman kept his foot and the gas and after a few minutes of overwhelming Edwards, he locked in a rear-naked choke and forced a tap.

Fatigue hurts.
