This Saturday evening (June 7, 2014), two of the finest fighters of this generation will do battle as Puerto Rican legend Miguel Cotto steps up in weight to face Argentina's "marvelous" Sergio Martinez in the former's premier stomping grounds, Madison Square Garden.

MMAmania will have LIVE coverage of the event, starting with the HBO pay-per-view (PPV) broadcast at 9 p.m. ET.

Cotto (38-4, 31 KO) was last seen thrashing Delvin Rodriguez in October, utilizing his long-neglected body attack to disassemble the Dominican veteran. Martinez (51-2-2, 28 KO), meanwhile, hasn't seen action since scraping by Martin Murray two Aprils ago, struggling with injury from both that bout and his prior clash with Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.

Martinez's WBC middleweight title will be on the line; so let's see what happens if you add some dosh to that pot.

Thoughts: Leave this fight alone; there are too many variables.

Sergio two years ago runs circles around Cotto; age and knee surgeries are lethal to a movement-based fighter, however, and he's shown worrying decay in his last fight. On the flipside, Cotto is coming up in weight, and while Sergio could make 154 without trouble, Cotto's had mixed success above welterweight.

There's also the issue of Cotto's recent offensive resurgence thanks to Freddie Roach to consider.

In short, the best thing for this fight is to just enjoy it. Though both these guys are out of their primes, they're rarely in boring fights and present an intriguing stylistic match up.

Give your wallet a breather.
