UFC Fight Night 44: "Swanson vs. Stephens" from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
Errrr... pump the brakes. This is where I remind you the bonus structure has changed. "Fight of the Night" will still be awarded but the best knockout and submission will not earn any extra cash. Instead, there will be two "Performance of the Night" awards dished out.
Got it? Good.
This time around, the headlining attraction lived up to its billing, as Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens put together a thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition that was good enough to earn "Fight of the Night" honors. Elsewhere, Carlos Diego Ferreira and Ray Borg earned "Performance of the Night" bonuses for their submission finishes of Colton Smith and Shane Howell, respectively.
Here are the special UFC Fight Night 44 bonuses:
Performance of the Night -- Carlos Diego Ferreira
Performance of the Night -- Ray Borg
Fight of the Night -- Cub Swanson vs. Jeremy Stephens
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
