UFC Fight Night 43: "Te Huna vs. Marquardt" from The Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
Errrr... pump the brakes. This is where I remind you the bonus structure has changed. "Fight of the Night" will still be awarded, but the best knockout and submission will not earn any extra cash. Instead, there will be two "Performance of the Night" awards dished out.
Got it? Good.
This time around, it was two familiar faces -- Nate Marquardt and Charles Oliveira -- who brought home the "Performance" profits thanks to their submission victories over James Te Huna (read full recap here) and Hatsu Hioki, respectively.
Meanwhile, it was the first fight of the early morning on Fight Pass between Sean O'Connell vs. Gian Villante that earned "Fight of the Night" honors, a back-and-forth Light Heavyweight showdown that ended in favor of Villante via split decision.
Here are the special UFC Fight Night 43 bonuses:
Performance of the Night -- Nate Marquardt
Performance of the Night -- Charles Oliveira
Fight of the Night -- Sean O'Connell and Gian Villante
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
