Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is already putting the wheels in motion for its 2014 year-end pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza; but it won't actually happen this year.
According to MMA Junkie, UFC 182 is scheduled to take place on Jan 3, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. That's because the Zuffa-owned promotion opted against hosting an event on Dec. 27, 2014, which would be just two days after Christmas.
The event is expected to be headlined by UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis as he attempts to defend his title for the first time against Gilbert Melendez. "Showtime" and "El Nino" are currently coaching the upcoming crop of female flyweights on season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).
Speaking of women, UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is also eyeing a spot on the card, according to the report. That will be six months removed from her upcoming title defense against Alexis Davis, which goes down at UFC 175 on July 5, 2014.
A nice and welcomed break for "Rowdy."
No other fights are tentatively planned for the PPV card at the moment, but if history tells us anything, you can expect UFC to stack the deck.
As always, keep it tuned to MMAmania.com as more bout are added to the year-end blowout.
