Metamoris, an all-submission jiu-jitsu combat tournament, has quickly become the destination for all talented submission specialists to show off their skills.
No disrespect to Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC), of course.
Still, Metamoris has drawn the interest of even some well-known and established mixed martial arts (MMA) veterans, namely, current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweights Brendan Schaub and Josh Barnett.
Even recent-retiree Chael Sonnen will take part in the next event, signing on to face ADCC veteran Andres Galvao at Metamoris 4 on Aug. 9, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
After striking a deal with Invicta FC to have future events of the all-female MMA promotion air on UFC Fight Pass, Dana White expressed his interest in potentially doing the same with Metamoris during a recent in interview while in Macau, China (video).
Check it out:
"It's absolutely something we would look at for Fight Pass. I think people would be surprised by the things that are going to pop up on Fight Pass. I said it when we first started out, it was a way to give all the library to the fans, they'd have full access. It only keeps evolving and it keeps getting better and better."
Interestingly enough, Ralek Gracie, president of Metamoris, appeared on The MMA Hour to promote Metamoris 4 and was asked if he would be interested in striking a deal with UFC to have future events aired on the promotion's digital network.
His response:
"We're at a time now where we are growing so much and we don't really know what the future is. We're trying to consolidate our media presence and make it something that we have a lot of creative control over. So, I'm open to stuff with respect to UFC and with respect to any other partners, media wise. I'm open to just about anything, but you know, we have to keep moving and keep working and we're very busy man, we just have to keep putting on good shows."
Ralek seems interested and White is definitely interested; question is, are you?
