World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 10: "Branch vs Taylor" took place last Saturday night (June 21, 2014) from inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the main card saw two new champions crowned, as David Branch became the promotion's first middleweight champion, while Rick Glenn upset Georgi Karakhanyan for the featherweight strap.
Of the lot, only Karakhanyan was issued a mandatory medical suspension.
That's according to Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), who also gave timeouts to five other fighters competing at the NBC Sports Network mixed martial arts (MMA) event last weekend in "Sin City."
See for yourself.
Georgi Karakhanyan: No contest for 60 days pending clearance for rib injury.
Dave Huckaba: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact).
Adam Acquaviva: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact).
Jimmy Spicuzza: No contest for 60 days pending clearance for right eye laceration.
Justin Jaynes: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact). due to right eyelid laceration.
Tanner Cowan: No contest for 60 days pending clearance for right cheek laceration.
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
