Two of ONE FC's top featherweights will go head-to-head on July 11, 2014 when Eric Kelly takes on Rob Lisita at ONE FC 18: "War of Dragons," which is set for the NTU Sports Centre in Taipei.
Lisita was among a spate of new signings made by Asia's biggest MMA promotion earlier this year and he got off to a spectacular start with a quickfire stoppage win over Yusuke Kawanago at ONE FC 15: "Rise of Heroes" in Manila. His reward for that win is a bout against one of the most successful fighters in the division.
Kelly is 10-1 overall and 3-1 for ONE FC with wins over Mitch Chilson, Bae Young Kwon, and Jens Pulver. He hasn't fought for the promotion in over a year after being stopped by Honorio Banario in a bout which had the inaugural 145-pound title on the line.
The Filipino has not been completely inactive during this period and did register a submission win over Jianbo Lu at URCC 24 last year, but he faces a serious test on his promotional return when he takes on the 14-5 Lisita, who has won his last four by submission or stoppage, beating some top fighters in the process.
Three further fights were announced this week for the July 11th card, which will also see Nathan Ng (0-0) take on Florian Garel (2-3) at 145 pounds, while Sung Ming Yen (2-1) faces Muhamad Haidar at 135 pounds and Zhang Zheng Jie (2-0) take on Rayner Kansiong (2-0) at 170 pounds.
ONE FC 18: "War of Dragons" will be the promotion's first ever card in Chinese territory and also features a lightweight matchup between Koji Ando and Rafael Nunes,, as well as a bantamweight bout which pits Yusup Saadulaev against Koetsu Okazaki.
