Rampage Jackson mulls retirement following Bellator shake up, gets flamed by King Mo for losing his 'dick rider'

Despite all the compliments he was handing out after signing with Viacom in 2013, it appears the sport of MMA, according to Jackson, does not have his back.

Bellator

The ripple effect of today's Bellator shake up is already being felt.

Just one fight away from his light heavyweight title shot against Emanuel Newton, longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Quinton Jackson is considering his retirement, because no matter where he goes or how hard he fights, MMA just doesn't have his back.

From his official Instagram:

"The first time Chuck and I fought was in Japan. PRIDE reps asked me to give him a good beating even though I had two fights that night. I lost my second fight that night cause I did what they asked, and they stood up the fight with Wanderlei too soon, in my opinion. MMA hasn't had my back the way I had its back. Time for me to think about retirement. Or fighting for myself."

Jackson, as I'm sure you will remember, was unhappy with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), as well, for a wide variety of reasons (like this).

But today's grievance was not met without criticism, as 205-pound rival Muhammad Lawal -- who lost a hotly-contested decision to "Rampage" at Bellator 120 -- took Jackson to task for trying to quit just because Bjorn Rebney was ousted as promotion head cheese.

From Lawal's Twitter:

@Rampage4real so now u feel some typa way cuz your dick rider got fired and now u wanna retire!!!?

I guess that beef wasn't squashed after all.

Jackson (35-11) has been competing for the last 15 years and with some degree of success, capturing the UFC light heavyweight title back in 2007, as well as notching wins over storied veterans like Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida, among others.

This is not the first time the soon to be 36-year-old Memphis native has looked for a way out ... but will it be the last?
